We get asked over and again why the mics don't cost much (for ribbon and valve microphones) yet the results as proved by our endorsors and testers show them to be of a higher quality.
There are a few reasons:
We can't compete with the big established names, even if they are as good.
We like to make our products accessible for professionals working at home and in commercial studios as well as to up and rising talent.
We were not born into big studio budgets ourselves and grew up dreaming of being able to initially afford more equipment to reach the professional sound we desired, so we want to be a part of expanding that accessibility.
We feel that more could be done to help people in the world, English, Malian and others. Our cost of living is now an outrage. Gas, electricity, petrol, food, accomodation. And to start on the conditions in Mali and Ethiopia, well.... We work in international and community development as well as music and business, that is why 50p from each mic is used to help us support Malian and Ethiopian smaller non governmental organisations with whom we have worked first hand.
We have initiated starting our own company charity to continue the aid work we have been involved in over in Mali and Ethiopia and are always interested to hear from potential sponsors and for ideas.
We would like to see this country, and others, and our business move towards renewable energy. Solar and wind. Surely that is the obvious answer? The Harper side of Harper Diabate has a degree in Environmental Management but there was little paid work in this field in 1995 when he graduated and not much has changed in the big picture of renewables since.
